Isola Comacina
One of the most interesting archaeological sites in Northern Italy
Isola Comacina is a small green island in Lake Como; it is part of the municipality of Ossuccio (Tremezzina), a town on the western branch of Lake Como and faces the gulf called Zoca de l’Olii: this name refers to the local production of olive oil. Indeed, this temperate climate is ideal for cultivation. On the island, you can admire the remains of the territory’s glorious past. From the Romans to Barbarossa, Isola Comacina has been one of the most important strategic points in the area between Como, Milan, and the North. Today you can visit the small green dot for its gardens and woods, but also discover the museum and the Antiquarium, which are located on the coast of Ossuccio.
