The green hug of the nature above the city of Como
The Parco Regionale della Spina Verde extends on the hill area at North-West side of Como. The territory, rich in preserved and protected nature, offers different starting points for excursions on these hills as well as to discover the ancient remains of prehistoric Como.
The itineraries are connected to Baradello Castle, from its upland dominates and controls all the lands of the town of the lake. Not only the ancient history: the Parco Regionale della Spina Verde offers also the possibility to discover the trenches of Sasso di Cavallasca. Included in the archaeological routes, numerous are the rests of ritual places, attributable to ancient Roman and Pro-Roman rituals, in addition to the marvellous sanctuaries as Basilica S. Carpoforo and S. Abbondio.
The Park is crossed by 13 itineraries for excursions: the level of difficulty is low, so a walk on these hills is suggested to families and for young trekkers. Kids can discover the nature of the Park thanks to the various initiatives, laboratories and activities planned and managed by the Ente: all the proposals have the aim to put in contact everyone with the local history, the environmental ethic and to teach the natural values of the protected area.
