A lake almost divided close to Lecco and Lake Como
Lake Annone, close to Lecco and Lake Como, is one of the largest of the Brianza lakes. Its only emissary is the Rio Torto, which flows into the Lecco branch of Lake Como and is fed by underground springs and little torrents that flow down from the surrounding mountains. The main characteristic of Lake Annone is to have a peninsula, known as the Isella peninsula, which creates a narrow canal dividing the lake in two. It is believed that in ancient times there was a Roman bridge that joined the two peninsulas, which allowed a large link road between Lecco and Como.
Lake Annone lies at the foot of Mount Cornizzolo and Mount Barro: rising up these mountains you can enjoy a marvellous view of this lake and its strange shape.
Around Lake Annone there is a relaxing walk trail that is composed by flat parts at the lake and light slopes across the woods and boroughs those dot the coasts of the lake. These itineraries, that brings you all around the lake, can be walked all year, on foot as well as by bike, and are perfect for walking with dogs always with leash.
At the shores of Lake Annone there are pic-nic areas. From Annone Brianza and Oggiono you can start to discover Lake Annone with canoes and kayaks: you can park at large parking and rent all the equipment in specialized centres. You cannot sail with a motorized boat on all the surface of Lake Annone, but fishing is permitted.
For fishing on Lake Annone you have to verify the areas where you can practise this sport and the validity of the license. Around Lake Annone there are places of interest with remarkable tourist appeal: Standhal sport centre in Oggiono and Golf Club Lecco, the only golfing structure in the territory of Lecco.
