We offer you a guided tour to discover the historic country residence of the noble and powerful Raimondi family, the very same family that owned the beautiful Villa Olmo in Como.
It will be an opportunity to discover the neoclassical villa, now managed and preserved by the prestigious Minoprio Foundation, the magnificent botanical park around and the gossip of the time relating to the much discussed Marchesina Giuseppina Raimondi, who married General Garibaldi in the villa, sealing the shortest wedding in history, only a few hours.
The tour will start from the halls of the residence, where you can admire the original frescoed ceilings, then visitors will be accompanied to discover the historic agricultural estate, now transformed into a wonderful botanical park of 7 hectares, a real well-kept collection of plants and flowers from all over the world! You can admire the gardens, starting from the very elegant fountain of the villa and its wide avenue with a perspective telescope that connects to romantic paths, where you can discover the wonderful flowers that color the park every season.
In particular, spring will reserve the magical gift of a gallery with clusters of wisteria flowers and a collection of peonies from the most refined shades of pink and soft yellow to the varieties with strong tones, in addition to the numerous seasonal blooms.
The visit will continue to the discovery of two special greenhouses, the “Mediterranean garden” with collections of arboreal, shrub, herbaceous, flowering and leaf plants and succulent plants, to then reach the “tropical greenhouse” with dense vegetation of plants, shrubs and flowers typical of the tropical environment, from the traditional ficus, which adorns our living rooms, to unusual plants such as banana, papaya, coffee, strelitzia … In conclusion, after having discovered curious facts and beautiful tree essences, you cannot miss a stop at the special greenhouse dedicated to products (plants, flowers and vegetables) resulting from the work of the teachers and technicians of the Minoprio Foundation farm with the collaboration of the students of this school, which has been training for almost sixty years , research and dissemination in the sectors of horticulture, horticulture, fruit growing, gardening and ornamental greenery, nationally and internationally.
