PALAZZO CARPANI BEAUHARNAIS E IL SUO BORGO “INTERNAZIONALE” SUL LAGO DI PUSIANO
FRIDAY 7 MAY 2021
We offer you an unprecedented guided tour of the historic center of Pusiano and the majestic Carpani Beauharnais Palace, to discover a charming corner of Brianza, so fascinating that it has become a real international destination in history! For the occasion, we will take you on a “path” backwards, from the beginning of the 1900s to the first decades of the 1500s, and we will introduce you to historical figures, politicians, artists, mystics … to make you understand the reasons why the little village of Pusiano, little known today, has been a truly famous place in the world.
We will begin our itinerary from a mid-1900s bourgeois villa, built by a gentleman from northern Europe, so in love with Lake Pusiano, that he built the palace in its waters, complete with a dock on the ground floor.
We will then continue along a walkway over the water, to reach the places of the 19th century in Pusiano: as a first stop, we will meet the home of Angela and Teresa Isacchi, two visionary sisters who between 1855 and 1895 made Pusiano a place of pilgrimage from all of Italy, from France and England; as a second stop, however, we will meet the painter Giovanni Segantini, who lived here in the 1880s, and we will discover some works of his “Brianza period” along the streets of the village.
Subsequently, we will show you the oratory of the early ‘700 dedicated to San Francesco Saverio and San Domenico, to then reach the majestic Palazzo Carpani Beauharnais, built in the early 1500s, but which became international in the following centuries, especially thanks to the godson of Napoleon, the viceroy Eugenio Beauharnais.
Here, after visiting the courtyard and the terraced garden, we will go up to the main floor through the monumental staircase and accompany you to the large internal halls.
In conclusion, in the warmth of the palace’s private chapel, we will tell you stories, anecdotes and curiosities of one of the most powerful men in Europe, the Viceroy, who also chose Pusiano as his favorite destination!
The route will wind for about 1.5 km., On mainly flat sections.
Meeting at the public parking in Via Zoli 9 in Pusiano.
