Leonardo and Adda River

Cultural Walk

Villago offers a cultural walk dedicated to the great Leonardo da Vinci and his relationship with the Adda river, which he had the opportunity to visit and study during his stays in Milan. The route will start from Cornate d’Adda, with a walk along an ancient navigable canal, parallel to the Adda river, characterized by locks and water regulation systems, which were inspired by Leonardo’s studies. Along the way, you will meet the Bertini hydroelectric plant, inaugurated in 1898 and still functioning. At the end of the pedestrian section, it will be possible to visit the fourteenth-century Sanctuary of the Madonna della Rocchetta, located on a panoramic hill above the Adda river, already existing at the time of Leonardo and from whose terraces it is possible to admire the places and landscapes that inspired the background of the famous “Virgin of the Rocks”.
