IL CASTELLO DI CERNUSCO E IL SUO SISTEMA CULTURALE
FRIDAY 7 MAY 2021
We propose a fascinating cultural walk in the “heart” of Cernusco Lombardone, on the banks of the Molgora river, to discover its ancient Castle and its medieval village, transformed, between the 18th and 19th centuries, into a mysterious rural structure and an agricultural system at the service of a beautiful villa of delight.
We will begin our journey from the oldest part of the village, from the medieval tower and from the fortification walls, where, even today, the trace of the ancient access can be glimpsed.
We will then pass over a picturesque bridge that will lead to the castle, the ancient manor of the Lord of Cernusco, and here, we will discover its surroundings and its fascinating medieval customs and traditions … obviously full of curious legends.
We will visit the ancient stables, now transformed into an elegant party hall, and we will discover a rare example of a gun tower, where the soldiers were positioned to fire the cannons and where they lay down at the end of the watch.
Subsequently, visitors will be involved in the search for the fascinating traces of the evolution of the complex, dating back to the 18th century, when the lord moved to a majestic villa of delight, the current villa Lurani Cernuschi, transforming his “fortress” into a farmhouse and the its ancient “battlefield” in a romantic garden complete with a fountain.
In fact, along a secret path, we will lead you to the discovery of a magnificent avenue of cypresses, built precisely to connect the manor house to the “outdated” Castle and its agricultural system.
We will continue our walk along paths of other times, among fragrant historic vineyards and cultivated fields, to reach a truly privileged vantage point.
Here, we will admire the entire complex previously described, thanks to an evocative perspective telescope, and we will conclude this journey next to the church of San Dionigi and Lorenzo, historic burial ground of the noble Lurani Cernuschi family.
