BLEVIO, “LA CITTA’” DEL LAGO DI COMO DOVE VIVONO GLI ARTISTI
SATURDAY 8 MAY 2021
We offer an unprecedented winter walk between the stairways and paths on the lake of one of the villages that symbolize the beauty of Lake Como, Blevio, the town of artists and the seven hamlets nicknamed “the seven cities”.
We will accompany you along the steps of the village, to discover real “corners of paradise”, which, in the romantic nineteenth century, conquered even the greatest artists of the time, who built beautiful houses here: Maria Taglioni and Giuditta Pasta, respectively the most famous dancer and the most important opera singer of the 19th century.
We will start our itinerary from the panoramic church of San Francesco, in the hills, designed by the same innovative architect who built the floating swimming pool of Villa d’Este, and then continue, downhill, among ancient houses and terraced gardens, up to the ancient church in lake of Saints Gordian and Epimaco.
Here, we will visit this striking Baroque work of art, known throughout the lake for its paintings and its highly prized Prestinari organ dating back to 1821; subsequently, we will reach the beautiful lakeside gardens, wonderful and suggestive even in winter.
Along the way we will also meet the beautiful mosaics of Blevio, included in the project “the park of mosaics” (of which we attach the link of the initiative), and, admiring Villa Usuelli, once Villa Taglioni, we will involve you in the vicissitudes of the great ballerina of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and of her friend, the famous Giuditta Pasta, who even chose to be buried in Blevio.
We will then conclude the walk outside the villa Da Riva, once owned by the Ricordi family and now owned by a very famous Italian singer of today, who, in line with the tradition of theatrical artists of the past, has chosen Blevio as the best place to live!
The route runs for about 2 km. between ascending and descending stairways, comfortable shoes are recommended.
