Wakeboarding & Wakesurfing
Ride the waves in total safety... the only risk is having too much fun!
Wakeboarding & Wakesurfing are recently popularized water sports that find their ideal setting in the calm waters of Lake Como. While the former involves being towed across the water by a motorboat using a rope, the latter utilizes the waves generated by the boat to allow the wakesurfer to ride the wave without the aid of a tow rope, which is used only for the start.
At first glance, riding the waves generated by a motorboat speeding across the water's surface may seem like a sport that is not for everyone. However, you will discover that Wakeboarding & Wakesurfing are, all things considered, accessible and easy to approach, provided you are guided by competent instructors who perfectly understand the dynamics and procedures necessary to practice both sports in total safety.
Wakeboarding was born from the fusion of traditional water skiing and snowboarding, from which it inherits the board with bindings to which the feet are secured, used to jump from one wave to another created by the boat's wake. Wakesurfing, on the other hand, is simply the result of surfers' ingenuity: when your favorite sport becomes almost a religion, why resign yourself to the fact that you don't have the sea available to practice it?
The approach to both sports is truly simple, and the fun will be at its peak right from the start! The only requirements are a minimum level of comfort in the water and an instructor capable of teaching you the basic technique and the "secrets of the trade," as well as sharing their passion for the discipline. Safety must not be forgotten: a life jacket must always be worn, and the correct inboard boat for towing is absolutely mandatory.
From your very first attempt, you can experience the thrill of gliding across the water standing on a board—don't believe it? Among the many board sports popular today—such as skateboarding, snowboarding, and kitesurfing, which require more preparation and initial skill to approach—wakeboarding is certainly the easiest.
For wakesurfing, a prior wakeboarding lesson is usually recommended, as the water start is identical, with the only difference being that in wakesurfing, the board is not attached to the feet via bindings. After a few minutes of towing, under the supervision of an instructor on board, you will be able to let go of the tow rope (which will be retrieved into the boat) and proceed surfing, propelled by the force of the wave created by the boat itself.
The thrill of being able to surf on fresh water in the splendid Larian setting, with your friends encouraging you, filming, and taking photos, is a fantastic mix of adrenaline and fun.
