Villa Fogazzaro Roi
On Lake Ceresio, a wonderful journey suspended between novels and beauty
On the Italian shore of Lake Lugano, more precisely in Oria, stands the summer residence of writer Antonio Fogazzaro.
In love with these places and the splendid villa, the intellectual spent his summers there, surrounded by a large circle of friends and colleagues, as evidenced by the high number of rooms reserved for guests.
The villa still features period furnishings and offers in the Alcove Room a reconstruction of the writer's study, which includes his original desk, at which he completed some of his masterpieces: Piccolo mondo antico, Piccolo mondo moderno, and Il santo.
The complex consists of multiple buildings erected around an original structure dating back to the 16th century.
Its rooms, to be visited at leisure in the almost timeless atmosphere that characterizes the residence, display antique photographs, curious memorabilia, and family keepsakes that allow visitors to experience the lifestyle of a bourgeois family at the turn of the 19th century.
