Rezzonico Castle
Rezzonico Castle: The Strength of Stone Protecting the Lake
Rezzonico Castle, dating back to the 14th century, is easily recognizable on the horizon thanks to its characteristic high crenelated walls. The structure, with its three battlements—one of which towers over the building—dominates the Upper Lake as well as the ancient Via Regina leading toward Valtellina.
An ancient portal at the base allows entry into a small grassy square within the walls, where a garden slopes gently toward the lake. Not far from the castle's central massif stands a small church known as the Church of the Magi, named after an ancient depiction.
The castle can be reached from the village, but visits are not always possible as it is privately owned. Coming from the lake heading south, you will find it on the right across from Dervio, overlooking the opposite shore of Lake Como.
