Resegone and Piani d’Erna

Resegone: the peak praised by Manzoni offers unforgettable experiences

A classic excursion to the most famous peak in Lecco, offering an extraordinary 360-degree panorama from its summit. The allure of Resegone is magnetic: it stands out from every perspective, like a guardian over Manzoni's city.

Hikers have three slopes to choose from for their excursions—from Lecco, Morterone, and Erve—all of which are beautiful and each with different characteristics in terms of length and difficulty. There are elementary trails suitable for the less experienced and more demanding routes, including via ferratas, ideal for more seasoned hikers.
For extreme sports enthusiasts, there are numerous cliffs equipped for climbing.
Near the summit of Resegone stands the comfortable Rifugio Azzoni, ideal for admiring from above the light and shadows that frame the city at its feet at every hour.

Those seeking a more relaxed pace can reach Piani d’Erna by cable car, and then take the paths leading to Punta Cermenati, the start of the Gamma 2 via ferrata, or the bottom of the Canalone Comera (winter route), amidst towers, imposing overhangs, and wonderful views. It almost seems as if the mountain sighs at the hiker's tired step, wishing to push them to Rifugio Azzoni and satisfy their thirst for glory by bringing them to the summit at a comfortable 1,875 m above sea level.
An insidious path, requiring careful attention, also leads to exciting variations, such as the Comera ascent—dangerous as a winter route—which brings you to the saddle guarded by Punta Cermenati and Punta Stoppani. This final passage is for an advanced level of hikers.

Piani d’Erna: a simple excursion for the whole family

A great classic for those visiting the town of Lecco, Piani d’Erna is easily accessible thanks to the cable car that carries hikers to the panoramic balcony. Some choose to stop here, then decide to walk back toward the lake or take the return cable car.
Piani d’Erna is a transit point, a stop before more complex excursions: the start of the Gamma 1 via ferrata is one such example. The route from this location continues toward Rifugio Antonio Stoppani, from which you can aim for the climb to the summit of Resegone, or you can ascend the Bocca d’Erna saddle, a point on the ridge overlooking the northernmost peak of the range, Pizzo del Morterone. From here, you can climb to the summit of Resegone.
Often a simple itinerary is the foundation for a more complex tour of Lecco's mountain: so large, so imposing and regal, that trekkers are drawn to it like flocks of subjects toward their new emperor.
The Nature Trail is a scenic and evocative walk accessible to everyone: lush green meadows, flourishing woods, and pristine nature offer wonderful sensations in an oasis of tranquility far from the frantic pace of the city.
