Lecco
The City of The Betrothed... And More!
The city overlooks the lake and is dominated by the unmistakable profile of Mount Resegone. In Lecco, you can visit the places that tradition has established as the setting for episodes from the famous novel “The Betrothed” and the house-museum Villa Manzoni, dedicated to the great Italian writer. Don’t miss the tall bell tower of the Basilica of San Nicolò, the Museum of Lecco Mountaineering on the top floor of Palazzo delle Paure, the Visconti Tower, Palazzo Belgiojoso with its Museums and Planetarium, the lakefront promenade, and the characteristic neighborhoods. The mountains that frame the city are ideal for trekking and hiking, thanks also to the panoramic cable car that rises from the Malnago area to over 1,300 meters at Piani d’Erna. Lecco is also a hub for “Le Vie del Viandante,” a 220 km trail between Italy and Switzerland.
It's not just culture, but also entertainment, sports, and fine cuisine
